I've got a lot of elbow pain from what I think is arthritis setting in that isn't going away and it intensifies when I bend strings. I've got a Silo Special and I've switched to 8s and thats helped a little (although tone suffers). Are there any mods that can be done to make string bending a little easier like different types of nuts, bridges or even string brands? Thanks.

Ouch!

Some guitars are just easier to bend than others. A shorter scale (nut to bridge) makes strings feel more rubbery and easier on the bending.

The majority of the PRS line is about a 1/2 inch shorter than EBMM. And a Les Paul is 3/4 of an inch shorter.

Also, the size fret wire plays a role in addition to gauge strings like you mentioned.

My PRS custom 24 was very easy to bend, but the neck just wasn't nearly as comfortable as a Luke. Worth trying out some of their line of guitars though.

Also, have you tried adjusting your strap and wearing your guitar a little higher or lower? Might help a little.
