Hey guys (and Gals too if you're out there)
what are some real Classic Good 'Ol Rock songs that are easy to learn?
my brain is dead and can't think of cool songs that would be fun to cover!

Wild Thing - the Troggs, I think? Also one of Clapton's bands did it, and Hendrix.
Louie Louie - the Kingsmen
Sweet Home Alabama -Lynyrd Skynyrd
Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
Iron Man - Black Sabbath
House of the Rising Sun - the Animals? Frijid Pink did a killer version, though.
Summertime Blues - was it the Who? And the band Blue Cheer did a version.

Steve....When I was 17 I was in a re-formed Blue Cheer. The only original member was the drummer. I think his name was Paul Whaley or something like that. Didn't last too long though :(

thanks everyone...
i'll compile a set list based upon these suggestions! THanks everyone!

That seems to happen a lot. I saw a "re-formed" band here in Cleveland once and I think the only original member was a roadie. :D

Jon,

Wow! That would have been cool. Were you playing Acid Rock back then, or Punk?

don't forget the groupies too... they are usually the originals too! EEEEWWWWWWW! Shivver in FEAR!

Don't forget Queen from Jazz on back. Bring Back That Leroy Brown from Sheer Heart Attack has a killer ragtime jazz guitar break that everyone should be taking notes from. lol. The eponymous Queen album has some amazing lead breaks throughout. (Jesus has some nice 32nd note descending runs way way way ahead of thier time.) Of course a lot of Brian's stuff is far from easy to learn, but there is a lot of stuff that is easy to learn as well. And he uses the whole music theory book of styles and scales too. :)

Early Kansas has some stuff to learn that's for sure. Again, some not so easy, but some definately pretty easily learnable and good ear excercise.

Rock Around The Clock. Not all that easy but not all that hard either. It is definately a stinking cool solo.

Black Sabbath's War Pigs album has some really cool stuff that isn't very hard but sounds killer.
