EB 52 low E undefined

Hey guys i just switched out the 48 from my power slinkies to a 52 for better balanced tension. Unfortunately with the new string the low E sounds much less defined and crisp. Is this normal with the 52?

That's a good question. Going for a larger gauge will result in a stiffer string with a higher playing tension. When a string is at a higher playing tension, it will inherently be less bright. I would recommend sticking with the 48 for tuning to E. If you decide to go to a lower tuning, then a 52 might be more your style to keep a similar feel and sound to a 48 tuned to E.

You might also want to try a set of the Cobalt Slinkys in the 52 to get more definition and crispness. The strings have excellent definition, especially on the bigger gauges.

Yeah ive got the old girl down in drop D until i get new strings. Is there a cobalt 52? I didnt see one
