Ordered two sets of EB Group 3 flats from Doug (bassplyr) and tried them on two of my basses today. AWESOME! They feel and sound great. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I think they also have louder output.

Try them out!

So, I'm pretty new to bass and have skinny little carnival freak fingers - do flats go a little easier on your fingers? Let the girly-man jokes commence!!

Yep, they're a lot easier on the fingers. Personally, I liked the feel of dead rounds. It'll take a while to get used to the flats feel, but it's not so bad.

I brought my Bongo with EB flats to church today for praise and loved the sound! These strings are louder! The low-end and mids are well balanced, round, and powerful. The high end is lacking compared to rounds, but there's enough muted sizzle in there to be an occassional slap/pop wanker like me happy. :p

Edit: There was some kind of blue dye left on my fingers after handling the silk wrapping for both sets. A minor inconvenience, though it should be noted for all fairness.

I play flats on my Stingray and when we play several fast songs in a row it feels like the finger tips on my plucking hand get dry and almost sticky, making it hard to play really fast. You ever get that with EB flats?

Yeah, that's what kept me away from flats after trying them. It always felt like I couldn't move fast enough around the neck with them. It's kinda there with EB flats, too, though not too much. Perhaps it's just an inherent trait of flat wounds?
