Hi all, posted this already on tb, but figured y'all ballers might be in the know a bit more.

I've been offered a bass locally (well further up country, but local enough) for a trade, but thought I might get some opinions on it first. It's a Musicman Reflex 5HH, pearl white with rosewood. EB-wise I've mostly played stringrays, sterlings and a few bongo's, but never played a reflex.. I have however played a big al instore, and I can see the electronic setup is very similar. My q is not so much on the eq, but more the balance of the fiver's.. especially given the reflex is a singlecut compared to say a SR5. Does any one have any experience/own one? are there any 'extra reach' issues normally associated with tele style or lp basses? any neck dive?

And speaking of the neck, how does it fit when compared to a SR5 or the bongo 5 necks? especially given I like a wide flat neck, anything from 18-19 is my bag, but it would be nice to know. I'd really like some opinions, because I am taken by the eq options, I love the fact you can go from a range of passive and active options, and the 18 volt headroom and 4 band is similar to a bongo.. but without the goofy looks (sorry bongo owners lol ;)) And like I said I'm not normally a singlecut guy, everything I have played has had that longer top horn, so I'm on the fence til I get some feedback.

any help here would be cool :)

Neck is like a SR5 more than a Bongo or Sterling 5

Hell yeah its worth it!

Mine was a bit too heavy & did have some neck dive as you mention

A tone of tones but I preferred the neck dimensions, weight & easier electronics in both the Sterling 5 & Bongo 5

Really cool bass man

I've tried a Gamechanger 4 string HH, and the tone is absolutely brilliant. I've not tried a 5 but I imagine the B is tight and punchy :)

EB Reflex 5HH Bass - Worth It?

I would say a definite yes. I have the one in my siggy and it sounds the best of all my basses. With the eq options I can get tons of different tones and it cuts through the mix very well.
I do get some neck dive that I've heard comes from the location of the forward strap button relevant to your body.
That hasn't bothered me but I do have to pull the neck up a little when I'm playing more intense bass lines on the upper strings so I can see them better.

Actually, the reflex has a 22 fret version of the Bongo neck. Same profile.

That's correct.
The same feeling like playing a Bongo, except +2 frets on a Bongo!!!

I got one, ...it's in my dealers store on a 2nd hand sale offer, but probably I'll get her home after vacation, ...it's one nice good looking bass, sounds great too!!!

I must add, ...difference is for a strap setup too, 'cause Bongo got upper horn around 12th fret, reflex got (or ain't got) upper horn around 15th fret, ...so reflex should be set up lower and more angled, ...if you know what I mean?

Cheers!
