There has to be a valid reason for Ernie Ball to make the strap lock screws longer, and people that keep the original shorter screw do so at their own risk, in fact the shorter screw will not fasten the new strap locks with enough depth as it is required. If the screw is not deep enough there is a chance that this will begin to lean in the direction of the strap pull and could cause more damage to the screw hole.

The screw EB provides with the Super Locks are actually shorter than the ones that came on my LUKE. This is due to how the screw sits in the housing. In the locks the screw sits almost flush with the guitar, whereas with the original strap post it sits closer to the middle.
