Well, as long as were currently off-topic within a thread, I might as well ask: What is this all about? People having trouble opening cases? Open the latches -- there are four of them -- and lift the lid, and...TAH-DAH! Bass!

I am not a tech but I did call EBMM a few months ago when I first saw this video. I was like "WHAT!!!..drill my Bass!!!" :eek:

Anyway, I was told that NO DRILLING is required for the EB Strap locks. I just ordered 4 sets to replace the Schallers I have on my EBMMs. Gotta keep it in the Family :)

Seriously, I have a couple of sets on order to install before a gig this weekend. I'll post my drilling preference when they arrive.
 
Since this thread has been brought back to life I'll chime back in...

I went to my local GC a couple weeks ago and bought a set of EB Super Locks. There was no drilling necessary on my 2008 SR5. I have to say that these strap locks are far superior to the Schallers that I use on my other basses. They are bigger and more solid, far less chance of an old worn leather strap slipping off like has happened on my Schaller equipped Precision.

Great product! I'll probably install these on all my basses eventually.

Just a thought. It would be cool if EBMM sold sets of the studs that go on the basses separately. That way you can buy one full set to put on the first bass with the strap part and then just buy the studs to put on subsequent basses. Otherwise your stuck with all these extra strap parts. I have 2 straps that I use and I will now have 2 extra sets of strap parts and only use 4 of the studs from those sets.

Again, just a thought.

Ok, just installed the EB Super Locks and did not have to do any drilling. I did notice that the threads on the EB screws were different than the original post screws but everything worked out ok. Remember, do not over-tighten as to not strip the wood.

I had a little trouble with getting the strap lock on my leather strap but I had the same problem with the other strap locks. I just had to compress the leather a little bit and it was OK.

I now just have to get used to the EB attachment mechanism but like everything in life -- we adapt for the better :)
