The item description is full of crap, but it's a cool guitar!
Is that a Kahler on it? Was it standard?

That's an old bridge by Schaller. It definitely was Kahler-influenced, as it has roller saddles and the behind-the-nut string lock. There is quite a large route under the bridge for the fine-tuner mechanism, as each string has an individual block of metal (probably chrome-plated brass) that pivots based on pressure from the fine-tuner screw. These "string blocks" are at the back of the bridge behind the regular sustain block of the fulcrum trem. EBMM used that bridge on the Silos from their introduction until after the EVH came out and they switched to their licensed Floyd Rose bridge from the EVH. Also, EBMM used the trem routing to float the Floyd on the Silo, similar to the original Luke model.

Schecter also used this bridge and sold it under their name branded the "Trem-Lock" (or maybe "Trem-Lok"); it is found on the Dallas-era Schecters from circa 1984 until Schecter went out of business sometime in late 1986/early 1987. EBMM did route the Silo so the bridge floated; Schecters were routed so the bridge was flush on the face of the guitar.

Regarding the ad - the guy is really skirting the issue - you have to read it carefully, but he only says it is from the same time frame as the "EVH production". It would have to be pretty early during the EVH years because this one appears to have a finished neck instead of the oil/wax neck and it still has the Schaller bridge. I'm pretty sure the switch to the Floyd happend before the Silo switched to the 5-bolt neck and oil/wax neck finish. Maybe Jon, Dudley or BP can help fill in the timeline for me.

Great flame on that neck though.

Tommy? Tommy? Anyone seen Tommy ...? :p

I'm guessing Tommy is waiting for this thread to drop to page 2 so he doesn't have to look at it and heed the calling of the FLAME

Hehehehe ...

Just imagine, if you don't want the body, it'd make a great neck for another guitar ... just carve it down to that sweet sweet Tommy Alderson neck profile ... :D
