I have a '89 6 bolt Silo I love ( my 1st EBMM). I was wondering why we don't see many 6 bolts come up for sale on the used market. I know I would never sell mine with it being my first, and being such a great player that it is. Any one else have a 6 bolt? What's your take on the scarcity of these jems in the used marketplace?

My '91 Morse is a 6-bolter. Love it. There are a few guys who prefer the older ones.

My take on the lack of availability is that production these days is greater than back then. So there's just fewer instruments out there to be sold.

for a start theres not anywhere near as many used Silos on ebay as the Axis variants
take from that amount they were made with 6 bolts for about 6/7 years and 15 years or so with the 5 bolt fixing (?)
I'm guessing production numbers were a lot smaller in the late 80's
there's probably a fair number of them being played by guys who dont bother with forums, ebay etc. maybe 20 years ago they ditched the Strat and bought a new fangled Silhouette and its still their player.
some have been retired and lie in cases under beds. maybe just a refret and they'd be players again
some have been trashed/hacked and bodged and are lying in bits or have been parted out
they're just fantastic guitars and many sit happily in collections worldwide?
maybe there's a healthy market for them in Japan and they're all going there to collectors?:(

I've owned a couple of 6 bolt Silos in the past, both hardtails an s/s/s and a h/s/s and they were both terrific. I loved the dark tint on the necks then and some of the birdseye I've seen on the old ones was just amazing
there's normally at least a couple a month on ebay uk from what I've seen. the Floyd Rose ones are few and far between and the ones with the Schaller trems dont come up as much as the hardtails either.

EBMM owned guitars headcount is currently at 533 (minus the 4 forum owned 6 bolters). That's 529 to 4? Wow, I guess the 6 bolters are rare. At least as far as forums members are concerned. Curious statistic.

25 year rule? 70,s fenders and gibbo,s once derided now cool. Pre eb musicmen now collectible. I think i,ll try and snag a 6 bolt hardtail to go with my silo trem. I think this is the time to buy.
