Pretty open ended question ... what style are you playing (blues?), how loud do you need to be? 1,2,3 channels? Effects loop? 1x12, 2x12 or head + cab? Modeler or tube? Weight/portability a factor? There are a world of amps out there!

Jeez, well in that case you have a ton of options! (Esp. clean and not having to cut through a band.)

The Roland cubes are pretty good for the money- the microcube is small, portable and can be battery powered so you can take it on the go. Or a small modeler (e.g. PodXT) where you can record direct to computer via USB. Or a small combo, e.g. a used Fender.

Losta options! Head on down to your local store and see what you like the sound of.

Tech21 Trademark 30. Great for recording also. Has reverb and effects loop if you need it. Small. Portable. Light.

+1!!!!

I was going to suggest that SAME amp. Best 30 watt amp on the market in my opinion. I have used them for years. I had a trademark 10 and now have a 30, as well as a Power Engine.

Tech 21 all the way. Best customer support too! well .. . second best.;)

+ 1 on the Vox Valvetronix.

I heard a great amp in a live situation last week Fender Deville - awesome awesome sound - he had a bunch of pedals too but even so - we were all cranning our necks to see what amp he was using.

I'm soon to try out a Peavey Valveking head through a 70's Hiwatt 4 x 12 and will "report back"

Peavey Classic 30 is a good option. All tube, great clean channel and very versatile.

+1 on the Microcube. great practice amp, and very versatile. I've even heard of guys gigging with these.

I'll also give a recommendation to the Peavey Valveking series. I have the 50 W 1X12, and it's great. Good clean channel, with bright boost. Good lead/distortion channel with volume and gain boost. Reverb, effects loop. Channel switching and gain/volume boost are footswitch controlled. Oh, and did I mention it's all-tube??

If you plan on running a bunch of pedals into it, go with the Tech 21 Power Engine 60. 60 watts of TOTALLY transparent power. Plenty of headroom and no preamp section to discolor the pedals in any way. Brilliant amps!
