With the supply chain issues right now and the spike in prices for new and used gear I'm wondering what a reasonable price would be for a 2002-2004 Music Man Axis? Appreciate any thoughts on this

Its sort of one of those "it depends" questions -- condition, finish, etc. I've generally seen them in the $2k-2.5k USD bucket. The cowboy days of used sales are drying up with tax implications and merchant fees. Most sellers try to offset those which causes an arms race in climbing prices.

Fair enough. Mine is in really good condition but has been modified. Pickup cavities were routed to accommodate active pickups many years ago but those are long gone. Uses pickup rings now and other than that a D-tuna was installed. Its a translucent red nice flame top and really prominent birdseye maple. Maybe a scratch or two on the back at most. Pretty great considering 20 yrs old now.

Unfortunately, the non-reversable modification to the pickup cavities and installation of rings (8 screw holes) are likely going to de-value it. I'd think $1,200 to $1,500 might be the most that you could expect to get.

Oh yeah, I fully expect to take a hit for the mods. I'm not selling it as an original stock. Normally I'd have a good idea of price but these days and esp in this post covid supply chain shortage , new and used items have skyrocketed. Thanks everyone for chiming in

Bought mine for $1200 in excellent condition right at the beginning of 2021. This was just prior to prices really exploding. Sell high now.

There are so many Axis guitars out for sale now, while high, and unlike months ago, it’s looking like a buyers market. When Eddie passed they went sky high, and now people are losing money to unload them.

I found a few deals and am pretty happy with what I got.
