Hello, I have 1999 EBMM axis in black with a cream pickguard that came on it when I bought it new. There are no pickguard options on MM web site for axis.
I have never seen another like this. I wonder........I'l post pics soon.

Is it an Axis (with a Floyd Rose) or an Axis Sport? The Sports originally came with a pickguard. Came in H/H, HSS, SSS and MM90.

I have a black Axis with a cream pickguard and a Floyd. Early model option from what I gather.

yeah, this was an option on the black solid ones for the first year or so... they look really cool! I always wanted to order one like this and have since thought about getting a black one on ebay and adding a pick guard...

from 97 to 99 we offered the cream guard with the Black Axis. It was the only Axis with a pickguard at the time...When it came up for a vote I think I was in the group who wanted it off...By summer 2000 it was history!

At the time the Black Floyd Axis with Rosewood board and cream pickguard looked pretty cool....

would make a cool special edition type guitar at some point... crazy maple tops and a pickguard... maybe a special run for GC or Dubaldo Music...

I had a black Axis with a black pickguard some time ago:

(I modified it to have a HSS setup)

I actually grew to love the look of Axis models with pickguards, and I put one on my main guitar, my Pacific Blue Burst Axis:

This one is modified to HSS as well - the pickguard is only stuck on with double sided tape, so can be taken off, if I want to.

I'm actually have a custom Axis model built by a luthier, which will have a green quilt top and pickguard as well - I really like the pickguard look. :)
