Music is in the heart and the hands.

You can pretty much play any style of music on any guitar. So yeah, you can play the blues on an Axis.

It's the player ... not the gear.

Very true lately I noticed Iam not into shredding like I use to and been playing alot of clean blues in the neck postion and it sounds great but something is telling me to get a tele or strat but I realize the EBMM Axis is a high quality guitar would I be making a mistake/or going backwards selling my Axis to get a Muddy Waters tele?

It is whatever you want it to be. I used my Axis Sport (sob) for everything.

Yep :p

But ... if you want a different sound that you can't get out of the Axis I'd personally look at another MM. For example ... the Albert Lee is a blues monster made in single coil heaven ... ;)

That is a great question and I definitely was asking myself the same one earlier last year. I use my Axis for blues ALL THE TIME. I have 4 axis and one EVH. On two of the Axes, I installed a Dimarzio Humbucker From Hell in the neck position. It is as hot as a humbucker, but sounds like a single coil. It is so perfect for what I needed and it would probably suit your desires very well. I even ordered them in Reverse Zebra and it looks just like the pickup I replaced (except for the poles).

For myself, no other music man guitar is an option, because I have to have the EVH in the bridge position. It is the best pickup ever and no other sounds as good in my book. Changing the neck pickup is an easy option to look into, and if you don't like it, you can always go back. :)

I'm telling you, it sounds SOOOO good.
