Dear All,
on a japanese website I found some EBMM Stingrays "Japan" that are sold for etter prices than your "normal" used Stingray. Rumours in some german forums also say that EBMM has produced some basses in/for Japan. Is this true? And if yes, what about the quality of these instruments compared against the SUBs / OLPs / Sterling by Musicmans?

Best,
Matthias

It is true, and they call the EX series. The quality is top-notch, from what I have seen, and it comparable to the regular EBMM line-up.

They even had some interesting options like ebony fretboards and string thru body bridges. Search the web for StingRay EX to find some more info.

aaah ... that's interesting ... bigpoppa: the ex models were only supposed to be sold in japan, then? did you never have the intention to have kind of mid-price ranged instruments like fender has with their japanese intruments?

I'm not Big Poppa nor do I play him on the internet, but as I recall, the EX models were intended for Japan, not for any sort of import into the US or elsewhere.
