Sup guys, well some of you may know that I have a son with special needs (we discussed this on the forum which had everyone tell what their occupation was), anyhoo here in Canada there is an organization called
A World of Dreams

and what this generous organization does is grant wishes to children who are either terminally ill, physically or mentally challenged. Well we just found out about this group and put in a request for Disney World (Florida) and we just found out today that we will be going, probably in the third week of July. I thought it fitting since this wonderful company EBMM also deals with chartitable organizations, plus going back to the thread title, I was wondering if there are any dealers close by in Orlando, cause you know daddy needs an EBMM JP 7. Now would I be able to take it back on the plane with me...this also needs to be addressed. Heck if anyone in the Orlando area wants to play me and have a week of free fun, while I shop for a new Ernie, maybe we can work something out...but you can only be me during the day... :D

Actually guys any feedback on the parks, restaurants, beaches etc. are welcomed!

Third week in July? Sunscreen and water - LOTS of water! It'll be hot - I went there that time three years ago. Look for the mist-machines! Also, in Epcot there's this Coca Cola exhibit where it's like a meat locker - nice and cool! Plus, you get to try Coke from around the world...

Oh, and did I say it would be HOT???

That's excellent! I hope your son has a great time. He must have been pretty excited when you told him. Have a safe trip and good luck on your search for "daddy's" JP 7. :D

There's a guitar store right in Downtown Disney, but as I recall they basically sell for list. They do have a nice selection of Fender, Gibson & Martin - not too sure about EBMM...

No matter how hot it is, if the kids have fun that's all that matters...

Hey that's absolutely cool, have a great time! Like thindave said, HOT AS HECK, down there at that time of the year. Hopefully you'll get a few showers in the afternoon to cool off. If you can go to your neighborhood Target or Walmart, see if you can get the spray water bottles that have the fan attached. That keep you cool. You can buy them in the park but they'll be expensive.

Hey Raz,

That's great you are coming down here to Florida! I'm about an hour from "The House of Mouse" but we sure do spend a whole lotta time there. So, if you have any questions on stuff to see and do, lemme know and I'll give ya my $0.02.

Yeah, definetly check out the Coke thing, it is nice to actually get something for free there (even if it is an advertisement).

As far as EBMM dealers, I ordered my Rad Red Lim Edit Pet from www.basscentral.com. Yeah, it sounds crazy going to a bass specialty store lookin' a new 6 stringer but, those guys are really cool and gave me a great price. There are several Guitar Centers in the Orlando area as well. Sorry, no Ernie Balls @ George's Music in Downtown Disney, but it is always fun to look there anyway.

Hope the weather's nice for ya as it has been rainin' alot lately.

Take care,

Thanks Scottie, I'll let you know, but I'm still overwhelmed by the whole affair!

There's a Sam Ash in Downtown Orlando, about twenty miles east of EisneyWorld, but I don't know if they sell EBMM products. I went there in December 2003 to a Mike Portnoy meet and greet. Maybe check with them online or call.

I live two hours west of Orlando on the Gulf of Mexico, so I get out there quite often. If you're interested in Theme Parks - Universal Studios Islands of Adventure is the best. I've been there ten times and I'm still not sick of it. (high class problem) Sea World is a good pick too, especially in the melting heat and humidity of July in Central Florida. I'm originally from Boston, and despite ten years of living in Southwest Florida, I still haven't adjusted to July and August - I usually go to those places between October and April.

Lots of Sunscreen and water +1

Give it another try Raz.
The Disney park in florida is bigger and better, but that's like choosing between cookies and pie. Both good, even if pie is more of a treat

In cali in sept, you can do ernie ball, disney, yosemite national park (one of the coolest places on earth...you won't ever want to leave), drive the big sur coast (breathtaking), go see a ballgame anywhere from SF to San Diego.

Not sure if all that would be hard on your kid and family or not, but memories would sure last from a trip like that.

Thanks I was going to ask what the difference was...well good news is, we're not likely to be going in the summer...I have to get some surgery done for a fractured tooth (big deal  ) but it helped to convince the wife that perhaps it's better to go when it's a tad cooler and less busy(smaller lineups)...so now I really need your help in deciding when...oh and Keith, I'll pretend I didn't hear that the one in Orlando is better, as I am still trying to convince her to go to California...BTW how far from San Luis Obispo to Disney?

It's about 270 miles (give or take) from slo to disneyland.

BTW In my last band, the bass player's son had Aspergers (mild autism) and he was able to avoid lines entirely when he went to theme parks.

Call ahead and find out. You may be able to do the same.

Raz, its only 1,300 miles or so from Orlando to CT..... ;)

Congrats on getting the trip for your son, I hope he and your whole family enjoy it!
I knew this was coming...and obviously I feel terrible...the chances of me coming home form Orlando with a New JP7 are EXTREMELY thin...it's more of a way to try out different EBMM's. You know you're still #1 on my list buddy...we are still buds, aren't we?

I live in Kissimmee, which is about 30mins from orlando - I haven't seen a single EBMM guitar since I've been here - Guitar Center don't stock them, the store at Downtown Disney doesn't have them (nice PRS Santana 2 though) and most of the other smaller stores stock Gib and Fend - if I find a good EBMM dealer anywhere close, I'll let you know. Good luck with the parks and getting your new 7string.
PS the best ride here is Mummy Returns at Universal, 2nd is Spiderman at Islands of Adventure, best coasters - Kracken at Seaworld, Hulk at Islands of Adventure and Sheikra at Busch gardens, also must check out Mission Space at Epcot, RocknRollercoaster (aerosmith ride) and Tower of Terror at MGM and just for fun the Lights Motors Action stunt show at MGM. Enjoy...
