My buddy owns a shop where I use tiowork and has given me a chance to buy a EVH natural quilt. The condition is "under the bed" stored quality. He's selling it for his cousin who bought it when they were first available but never learned how to play. I've known the guy for 20 years and he's always been straight with me. He's thinking about asking 6K for it, not quite sure yet. I love me some EBMM EVH but is that the right price? I've seen some colors go for that and I found that the natural finish wasn't that common. Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks!

6K? That seem 3k too steep. It is worth whatever you want to pay for it. I would not even consider it at that amount. You can get 3-4 bad a$$ Axis' for that price and the only difference is....no EVH siggy. My 2 pennies.

If you buy it then you will be so scared to play it live - in case you damage it! Do YOU want to carry on keeping it under the bed?

i've seen some 10/10 EVH's (kept under the bed with stickers left on covers and the sticker left on the scratchplate) fetch stupid money and conceivably you may get them going for 6K + - I bleeb even more for the rarer colours (didn't a pink EVH sell for $7.5 k EBAY BIN recently?).

However, heed the advice of the EVH guitar owners here as they know FAR more about EVH's than I do!!

As the owner of a natural EVH I'd like to think they are worth about $10k.;)

But in reality I would say they are worth minimum of $2k and could probably ago as high as $3k if it were mint, mint, mint condition and you got to check it out before the purchase. (non-eBay/internet purchase)

Of course there are subtle differences between the Axis and EVH but whether or not they matter to you is what matters. There is something to the idea that it may be so expensive and rare that you won't want to play it out, or at all for that matter. If you're looking for a player, the Axis route would be hard to beat. But if you're an EVH fan, want to own a piece of his history and just think it would be cool, there's no telling what the collector value could be worth to you.

Good luck.

I quit trying to guess what these things were worth after that pink went for $7500 or so last month during this "bad" economy / recession we're in.

As the owner of 50 EVH's, I'm both happy and alarmed to see prices like that.

That sounds like a $3500 guitar to me. If it was played and has usual playwear, closer to $2500 ...................
