Hey Folks,

I forgot to ask the dealer at the store where I ordered my Albert Lee the other day about these gig bags so I figured I would ask here. He had his gorgeous Morse in one of the EBMM bags and I want to get one.

Can I get one for an Albert?

What are the general reactions of the folks here who have 'em?

Thanks,

Well your new AL will come with a hardshell case. If you want a gig bag you'll have to buy that separately or work the retailer to throw it in free with your purchase. :D

That's a pretty rough Steve Morse tale about the joys and horrors of air travel with guitars. I remember I used to take apart my old Tokai strat when flying to and from college. Probably looked pretty weird in the xray:p

Now, some of you need to settle down a bit regarding my gig bag question. Remember I was just asking about them, not stating I would put my new Albert in one an throw it off a 5 story building:D

All I wanted to know was about the quality of them.

I have 3 and think they're great for transporting guitars that WON'T EVER LEAVE YOUR SIGHT. I love slinging it over my shoulder when going to jam with others.

Wish the pocket was bigger for a bit more storage space. But I got them for the price of a CD when GC was blowing them out along with a lot of other more humongous gig bags that I didn't want and didn't say MUSIC MAN on them.

BTW nice and plush on the inside.

Nothing wrong with a gig bag. I would only use it to go back and forth somewhere, but not to store my axe in for any long period of time.

No doubt these gig bags are not designed for serious protection but the do seem to serve a purpose. I get tired of using the case all the time unless the guitar is going to be in there for a period of time or to a gig. I want one more for going to band practice because it will lessen the load.

I've seen a couple on FleaBay recently, but one states it was for the EBMM EVH model, are all the guitar gigbags the same dimensions? I would imagine they are but I just wanted to double check.

Thanks for the input everyone!

Im not mr. know it all or anything. But a lot of older guys i know have told me that gig bags can actually be better. When u think about it they definitly are. The padding in good gig bags is actually better than a hard case. A lot more resistance padding. Plus no broken headstocks or cracks which i heard a lot about. No doubt for long term cases are better but for moving a guitar around definitly go with gig bags.

I have a pretty sturdy gig bag with some kind of reinforcements along the edges. I've used it for about 5 years, with numerous domestic air travels while I was in the army. I even used to ride a motorcycle with it on my back, the wind resistance was insane, don't think I ever needed the brakes... The only time my guitar suffered an injury was when i forgot to zip the bag before I lifted it. Nothing's worse than the sound of a guitar hitting the floor! Fortunatly it only suffered some cracks in the finish along an edge, no major dents or cracks.

Gig bags are easier and more convienent, but I'll take a hardshell case anyday of the week personally. Hardshells are more protective of environmental differences, ie. temperature and humidity. Gig bags padded or not don't seem to handle those type of things well.

Gig bags are just great for the smaller gigs/jams/rehearsals.

A fellow guitarist used to really piss me off - he used to have a "double" gig bag, holding his 2 guitars.
He'd turn up at the gig, bag on shoulder, small combo in one hand and a hold all in the other, and that was it.
Just one trip from the car to the venue - with all his gear.
Gig bags are great - as long as they are used wisely.
I say get one from the dealer when you get your guitar - he's bound to do you a deal.
Yesterday when I helped my mate get an OLP guitar the dealer sold him the next step up, it was made of similar material, but was more rigid and resembled an oblong case - £20 !!! - a steal !

Yeah, I'm going to pester the dealer when he is back in the store on Monday evening. It would be nice to get a nice double guitar gig bag for my EVH & Albert!

I would have all the guitars I need for any gig and it would save some room both in the car as well as the club. We tend to get a lot of drunken' maniacs clamoring around after each set wanting to check out my EBMM's

I still get the "Is that a hot-rodded Tele?" when people see my EVH model:) ;)

On a side note, I just saw the add for the Body Glove gig bags and searched them out, sorry but $179.00 for a gig bag is a tad ridiculous

I have an EBMM gig bag if you are interested. It is in perfect shape. It came with my Axis SS but I have since bought a hardshell case for it and don't use the gig bag anymore. EBMM uses the same gig bag for all of their models so your AL would fit in it just the same as my Axis. Let me know if you are interested.

Let me check with my dealer on Monday night, if I can't pull of the scam I will send you a PM.

Thanks,
