Hello, I was wondering if anyone else has ever had sting breakage issues on their JP guitars. I use Elixir strings (I sweat a lot and Elixirs tend to last me a long time). The first time I put a set of Elixirs on, after only about a week or two I snapped one of my high strings, I believe it was either the high b or e strings. I thought it was weird but figured it may be a bad string.

At band practice last night, while going over a few clean picked parts with our drummer, when I stopped playing I gently rested my hand on the bridge and heard the sound of a string snap. I looked down and to my surprise all 3 lowest strings all snapped at the bridge saddles all at once.

I doubt there is a problem with burs causing the strings to break on 3 or 4 different saddles, but I am at a loss as to how I am snapping strings so easily on this guitar, especially since I don't use the trem a whole lot. Mostly just for soft vibratos. Does anyone have any insight at what could possibly be happening? Any help would be much appreciated.

It's usually either the quality of the strings (defects, etc.) or physical damage of the string due to a burr, etc. Very unusual that you'd break so many strings at once ... !

If you've inspected the guitar and you don't see any sharp edges, etc. then I would totally try out some other string brands. EB coated or cobalt would last you longer than the regular ones, either might be worth a try.

I had that issue with my JP7 at the begining. Went through 3 or 4 high Es within a week. Anyway I looked at the saddle and it was fine, so I took it off and took the lightest piece of sand paper that I had and lightly "sanded" every contact point for the string. Then lubed it up and haven't had that problem again. And it has been around 6-7 months since. BTW my strings were breaking clean right off the wrap. D'addarios, Ernies, etc.
