NOW....I still need to set the action, it's a bit high - any tips? I gotta say, that is one SWEET sounding guitar! I can't wait to get the piezo / acoustic components so I can hear it all!
Nice guitar! Gotta love the Mystic Dream! I know I do...
I have a little Line 6 Spider III 15 combo I use for practicing and it sounds better than I would have imagined it would. I bet that 212 combo of yours sounds even better...
- that's what I was thinking, a minor truss rod set would do me......
Are there any "gotcha's" with these instruments?
Man, this thing is almost TOO pretty to play!
- almost -
Yeah, the 150W Line6 is just a bit more than I need for my little office, here; I did a close-to-wide-open run once (wearing earplugs AND headphones) then did a low volume run to see if the sound had changed, it held tight after the thrashing......the thing can CRANK, with no negative sounds up to as loud as I can stand it!
I STILL need a good acoustic to run in parallel for the piezo output, better start saving my pennies (and working on a good story for the wife!)
I thought it was too pretty to play at first too, but that finish is hard as nails so don't worry about hurting it so much! Just play it!
I agree. The truss rod might need a tweak. My new JP was setup GREAT, but it too could benefit from a slight truss adjustment (might just do that tonight actually). I adjusted the bridge a hair too so it is completely level now (it was a hair above level). It was ultra playable out of the box and, in the end, how it is setup at the factory and how YOU like it setup may be two very different setups...
Have you taken it outside yet? The colors are even cooler in direct sunlight!
Nope, it hasn't gone outside yet.....I was playing my Strat outside a few weeks ago, it was a HOT, sunny day, and after a while I realized that the guitar was scalding hot - about the same time that I broke two strings (I believe the HEAT had something to do with that), so I'll probably be REAL cautious with the JP^!
How do we take care of the finish, is there a Top Secret MM recipe? I read something about gun oil and polish...? I've GALLONS of various types of gun oil, so....I should only have to procure the polish -
- what's the story on the Nut Juice? Is this a top-secret recipe, or is there a preferred lubricant for it?
nut juice is lubricant for the nut so the strings glide easily. Gun stock oil and wax is for the neck and should used sparingly. I've yet to need to refinish my MD's neck after over a year of use. Just keep your hands clean when playing and that will help.
I use the Wonder Wipes for the body and they work 'wonders'. Other than that, there is no real 'secret'!
Yeah, REAL hot weather is not good for a guitar...
