Hey guys,

I don't know if you remember, but I have recently bought a morse which has a lacquer crack on the front of the body, I contacted CS but because it is 8 years old they won't touch it, which is fair enough... So I asked if they would refinish it for me if I would pay but they won't, so does anyone know a great place in Southwest England where I can get this resprayed and re-lacquered?

Mike, why don't you wait until you get a few more nicks in the windshield before you replace it - get your money's worth!

Oh, by the way, CS really is top notch, and they are in the business to make money, so it's not like they "won't paint it", but rather it's not going to be econimically feasible to YOU if they did give you an estimate.

Then you would probably rag them on the price they quoted you; just find a local tech, he'll have someone to recommend.

If you like the guitar's tone, leave it alone. Many times a refin will change the guitar.
Sell it and get a perfect one if it bugs you. A perfect refined Morse will be worth less than one with some moderate wear.

Have you tried Hugh Manson (Manson guitars) in Exeter ?

Yeh, I'm inclined to agree.. just play the thing to death... look at the state of Steve Morse's no1. It still sounds fantastic and still his go to guitar cos guess it just feels now like an extension of his arms. Guaranteed if you get it re finished you will prang inside a month anyway and be back where you started.

It looked pretty decent in yr video so play and enjoy.

Put the money you save toward a nice Y2D in deep purple burst

Cheers

Thanks for the replies guys!

I have no probs with CS :) I should choose my words more carefully! Sims is great, but very expensive, strings and things recommended him, Mansons is a great idea, not far from me too, I will give them a call and see what they can do!

I was thinking getting it done it black sparkle! what do you guys think would be a great colour for a morse?

I also think you should leave it as is...unless you dont like the blueburst at all. In the pics it looked great and the video as well.

+1. Let it be. You're too good a player to be fussed about what it looks like. Nobody will notice when you're playing it.

I do love my Morse which is also blue burst and does have a few character marks.

Mike you are a terrific player and it is your tool so I see no reason why if you want to re-fin your Morse to not go ahead and do it. Come up with your own spin of a finish that you feel is you, looking forward to see what you come up.
