I am considering purchasing a BFR JP6. Long time Fender fan (have 6) but this would be my first EBMM guitar.
Why do BFRs have painted necks? Wouldn't an oiled neck be considered the preferable and/or higher-end option?
What is a reasonable price for a BFR JP6 less than a year old?
Are the JP6's good for any other genre other than metal? (I am not a shredder, so...)

Digging the forum. Thanks!

The BFRs have painted necks because JP wants it that way. It's his guitar and EBMM builds stuff for the artist first, then we get to buy what the artist uses.

If you're not a shredder then jp6 thin neck may not be entirely your kinda thing. As an ex-fender player too I find axis and silhouette necks to be fitting like a glove.

Thanks for the responses guys.
I'm in the US, midwest.

Since you're in the Midwest, shouldn't be *too* tough to go put your paws on several models. My fave is the Morse models, but could be you prefer a Luke or an AL - there's lots of options.

The world is your oyster, my friend! :)

Welcome to the forum.

JPs are good for all genres. They have the flattest necks of the ebmms. You should try to play some different models. Or, if you pick one up at guitar center, you have 30 days to return it, no questions asked. Good luck!

although flat is the wrong word really. its a 16" compound radius =p

if you do like the JP neck though (find out for yourself to be sure).

I can say, the JP is tonally the most versatile guitar ive ever played in my life.

I think i remember BP saying a few years back that the JP is far and away their best selling guitar

Best selling yes but doesn't mean its the best EBMM, I never got on with the JP6, I agree with Eric, I think the Axis is the best but it is all personal preference.

No prob, i meant flagship more so for recognizable reasons being that it was once a sig model of Eddie Van Halen and how well he is known, and even today id say about 80% of people still associate the axis with Evh or at least his tone with that body shape, as it was so early 90s cool! And still is one of the best guitars on the planet. I Love Jp and his style, i just never liked the feel of the jps, they are SO nice though, but i actually liked his Ibanez better. I know im gonna get killed for that comment! But its just my taste, lol!
