Seeing as Luke is my favourite guitar player of ever 'n ever, and noticing that Steve seems to be equipping a lot of his babies with the Fernandes Sustainer pickup system, has EBMM got any intention of updating the Luke range of guitars to include the Fernades Sustainer as the neck pickup?

I for one would be at the front of the queue, especially if it had a Piezo and was White Sparkle ........ ( mmmm....daydream moment...... ) !!!

I dont know the logistics of this, but im sure BP and the guys could let us know the why's 'n why nots to it happening.

You gotta check out Luke using it on the 25th Anniversary Amsterdam DVD, at the end of the Dune / Dont Stop Me Know instrumental with David Paich. One note....one freekin beautiful note he holds ! The first time I heard it, I kept rewinding just to hear that ONE note, it blew me away !
He also uses it on the same DVD at the end of Africa when he's jamming with Mike Porcaro, it's sweeeeeet !

Luke, if ya pick this comment up, I am installing the Sustainer pickup on my soon to be made custom Flying V, which happens to have the same EMG config as well. Also, Ive modelled the neck to be the same as the Luke guitars as it is the most comfortable one Ive ever played in over 25 years of picking. Is the Fernandes Neck Pickup on your Guitar's exclusively made for you as I can't find that type to buy anywhere. Its either Humbucker or Single Coil systems that look different to the one's you use.

Spread the word buddy !

Its probably the one that EVH uses, which is a discontinued unit.

Didnt know EVH used the Sustainer Tim, interesting. When I initialy looked at starting my custom Flying V project, the only Sustainer systems I could find were of the Humbucker variety. I already seen Luke using a Single Coil system so therefore, thought it must be exclusively designed for him.

Single Coil systems are now available , but it the pickup looks different than Lukes, also, seen him with Toto earlier this year in Manchester, UK and on his new BFR im sure he had the same Sustainer pickup, I think there are some pictures floating around the forum of Luke in action, I may be wrong.

I have some pictures of the EVH sustainer, on his EBMM guitars. Sadly, they are on my main PVC which currently in the process of having Windows re-loaded on it. When its all done I will post some pics. The pickup is a single coil type.

There you go. EVH's Sustainer:

As you can see, its a single coil one in a HB routing.

Come on Big Poppa, let us know if this could be done, rather than installing it ourselves.
I don't know the official word, but I suspect there isn't really a big demand for the sustainer. Even Luke uses it infrequently, it's not like he has one on every guitar.

But you can totally have it done aftermarket ... so if you really want one I'd say go for it.
