With the arrival of the Petrucci F-1, I notice the price is more expensive than the normal Petrucci. Just wondering if the F-1's tone is better.. Because I want to buy a Petrucci, and was saving for the Original, but I want the best tone quality.

Anyone know the difference?

Welcome, and I'll warn you in advanced, "vs." is kinda discouraged around here... maybe word it a lil different next time, no big deal though ;)

It all depends on what is better to you. The BFR has the mahogany tone block, which I imagine will give it a warmer sound, but the standard JP sounds awesome too. Some guys around here who own them should be able to fill you in.

Yeah, It doesnt make sense to vs. a guitar

1. All Ernieball's are good :D
2. Vs. they own company lol sorry for the mistake

Anyways...

Thanks for the help. I am wanting to buy the Petrucci, but the BFR is out of my league for price..(4000 :/) Which is why i was planning on the Original Petrucci...

But I just want the best tone quality, and when I played the Standard Petrucci it blew my mind, and I plugged into a decent amp.

Hehe...good luck. As with any great guitarist, much of their tone is in their playing style, not the equipment. If you find a quick and easy way to play and sound like Mr. Petrucci, I and many others here would be willing to pay you for the secret! :p

Welcome aboard and be sure to post pics when you get a JP!

Alright Thanks..

Ohh What a dream it would be to get his tone

But I will try and get pics on here when I get it. Got to get a job first though

(To young and hard to get money, but I will find a way to get my Petrucci :D)

Well then while you're saving up, stick around and do a LOT of forum reading. The folks here will be a great source of information for learning about the Pet. They can tell you about strings, neck adjustments, the awesome trem system, the piezo, etc. And if you would like pics of different colors, just ask Fogman. :D

Have fun!

that is excatly my dillema, i've been saving up for a petrucci, but with these BFRs... god damnit, they look so good, the normal petruccis look "normal", the bfrs look like a mega guitar which i would love to own, but the price is so high :(

i gotta make a choice now between a car and a BFR

There is not *that* much difference in price between a fully loaded JP and a BFR. Save your pennies. Remember you have about 6 months after you pull the trigger on a BFR to save/sell gear.

I dont know, Id probably say that I would get the Original Petrucci/Piezo/Matching Headstock/Inlays (Maybe), and updated D-sonic bridge.
