I had a D-Sonic and didn't care for it. Tried it in a couple of different guitars. It just had something going on in the 6-8khz range (almost fizzy sounding) that I couldn't get rid of. On the lower register, it had less balls than my Tone Zone.

To each his own.....but I just didn't like it.

In my dropped tuned guitar I had the blade closest to the bridge. In my standard tuned guitar I tried it both ways. The difference is VERY subtle. The bar obviously adds some brightness that some guys may like with dropped tuning.

I'll add that not many big name artists are using this pickup. I was really shocked to see those pics. To my limited knowledge, the only other big name artist that used this was the guy from Linkin Park. You've got to ask yourself why. Keep in mind that Dimarzio made another model of pickup that looked identical to the Drop-Sonic (the MegaDrive). That may be what we are seeing in those pics.

wait a sec. guys?? Does John has his guitar a little bit lower than usual????? :D:D The picture with this silver JP rocks ;)

Maybe Big Poppa poked fun at him for wearing his guitar like a necklace, and thus the new, lower-slung look? :D :p :D :p

Welcome to a month ago guys...

This is old news...but it ain't a full D-Sonic...Blucher custom wound them to JP specs and installed them in those guitars pre-tour (april-ish)...They're on the lower tuned guitars...C and D tuned ones...
