I was wondering if anyone knew somewhere I could take my EB to get it fixed up, looked over, neck aligned...basically a makeover to get it new feeling again. Are there any authorized repair centers in MA (sorry, it's probably listed in bold letters somewhere on the site but I couldn't find it...just dealers). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I don't think EBMM has authorized repair centers. When I had a problem with mine, I ended up shipping it to SLO. As far as local shops in MA go, I've only had bad experiences with them so far, so I couldn't tell you where to go.

Adam, EBMM doesn't have authorized repair places, mhorse is right if you want EBMM to make repairs, you have to ship it to SLO.

Everyone here thinks that it's worth it to learn to do your own setups and what not and I'd have to say that I agree.

I picked up the Dan Erlewine book. You can get them from Amazon, Barnes & Nobles most of the bigger book stores carry them.

I have this one, it's okay.

This one looks like a better one.

I have a feeling that it's going to be on my list this year.

Hope this helps, Glenn |B)

I don't know where in MA you are located, but I have any excellent guitar tech in Brookline that has set-up all 12 of my guitars, He currently has my Albert Lee and is giving it a once-over (I just bought it used). He is a player and you can't speak guitar to him, he will understand.
E-mail me if you want his info.

I guess I should have been more specific: For Christmas I want to send my friend's Musicman bass out to get redone, it's an 80's model and a beater but he just loves it to death, but it's showing signs of age (the neck's getting out of place, the buzzes, the frets are wearing and I think the bridge could use some work) and I was hoping that I could hand it to someone who was a qualified technician for EB instruments and *poof* have it come back better but sending it to SLO probably won't help anyone...
Thanks for all of the help so far, Glenn those books look like a terrific investment. I guess I should've posted in the bass section but I'm just hooked on the guitar threads! I'm in central MA where there are hardly any music shops to speak of (I drive over an hour to go see Pete Dubaldo for my EB needs). Anyway, thanks again for the help, I'll have to stew on this.

Adam, NP posting here is cool too. Yah man the Brookfields are like east bum blast compared to me or Robberns. I have a buddy at work who use to live in West Brookfield, so I understand your pain. You probably won't find any real help in Worcester and that's probably the closest place for you.

You could send it to EBMM, call them on Monday and see what they say, it's worth the phone call.

Take some pictures and post them here, so they can see the shape and make it a little bit easier than trying to explain it.

Yah his series of books are awesome and just about everyone here raves about them.

Later, Glenn |B)
