I posted picks of my first EBMM in trans blue, and since I have had a few weeks to play it I wanted to give my thoughts.

First off, I was not an Ernie Ball guy, this was my first time trying one, and as stupid as it sounds it was almost entirely based on a Van Halen thing (liked the way they look when he plays them). Was going to hold off for the new Fender he made, but $3000 is obscene to pay. I have played a lot of Gibsons (SG, Explorer, Les Paul) and few strats. Recently I had owned a couple Kramers and a PRS SE.

First impression, it is the best looking guitar I have owned, the color and style are excellent. Next thing that jumps out is the neck, I have NEVER felt a neck as perfect as this, something about it feels so nice that it makes playing easier (I know that also sounds stupid, I can't really explain it any better). No other guitar feels like this on your hand, and I have played/owned them all. Finally, when played unplugged, it resonates better than any other guitar I have owned, it makes sitting on the couch practicing without an amp a pleasure and I play and practice more because it is so enjoyable.

Next with the amp, I play it through a Mesa Single Rectifier, and am very happy with the sound I get. I like a George Lynch, Dokken type of sound, and also play a lot of EVH, this guitar gets it nicely. Pinch harmonics ring loud, and I also found that I have excellent access to the low frets, a lot of guitars claim this, but the cut of the body at the neck joint is masterful.

I really like the way I can leave the tremolo bar on while in the case, my other Floyd Rose guitars required me to remove them to get them in a case, a nice touch by EB.

Finally I want to comment on the tuning pegs, I was not sure what to think of the 4/2 setup, but I am a huge fan now. On my Explorer, all 6 are one one side, and I find my self having to count down to the peg I want, plus they are too close together. On a LP or SG, it is 3/3, so as you reach around to strings 4-6, I sometimes have to look to see which one I have my fingers on. With only 2 on the bottom, you instantly know what string you are tuning, and the 4 on top are spaced so you can work them, This little feature makes it a wonderful guitar.

All in all I am very happy with the buy, it has become my number one guitar and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a very great and versatile ax.
