Would anybody who knows how to decifer the EB's serial code mind typing up a little "how-to" for all of us? I would really like to know so when i go to stores and try EB's out i can know how old they are w/out having to come back here and type a post.

It has been confirmed by Derek in previous posts that there is no "mystery" or "code" in the serial #'s...they just throw a neck plate on the guitar, and note the birth date for record.

I would cut to the chase; if you're out and about at your friendly neighborhood guitar store, with guitar in hand, give a call to our good friends at EBMM: 1-800-543-2255. You'll have an answer, start to finish, average time of 3 min. -- that's how MY experiences with this great company have been (and yes, I have their # in my phone book...I'm sick like that :p)

well could y ou give an example of a serial number and explain how its read? like left to right its the month, day, year? idk... jw i know its probalby annoying but imjust looking for some help thats all.

The numbers are random. There is no mo,day, year logic to the number. That's what DWF was saying. The numbers are prestamped on the neck plates. When the neckplate is put on the guitar, EB records the date.
