Dear support, I Would like to repair my stingray 5 bass, My original preamp board is broken, and I get a MC766W new preamp.

I try to reapir the bass in a official store in spain, but there is no repair service for my issue, and there is no solution by the seller.

Have anybody knows what are I doing for wiring this preamp and repair the bass?

Seller? Did this show up damaged from a sale? Probably the only way to get the preamp fixed would be to send it back to EBMM for repair.

The preamps was buy as new on ebay, you can see both preamps in the next pic. up the MC766W preamp, at the bottom is the broken original preamp.

Also I'm triying to extract the schematic directly from PCB, but there are many possiblilities for wiring, and the question is the next, How EBMM was think the desing to wiring correctly this PCB to make a right performance of a SR bass.

I would like to see any example or schematic for try to known the correct form of wiring.

Many thanks for response.

The 30th Anniversary stingray had a preamp that was voiced specifically for that bass. That new preamp that you have may not be the right design for that bass or pickup. Probably contacting EBMM regarding the non-functional preamp would have been the best thing to do before buying preamps off ebay.

I'm also not sure how a "new" preamp would be available on ebay, and with a 2020 date code.

Is your broken preamp the original preamp for your Bass? If you bought your Bass new, then it obviously is. If you bought it 2nd hand, then the electronics may have been modified and could be the cause of the preamp not working.

Email Ernie Ball Customer Service (below) and ask if they can send you a wiring schematic. Describe your Bass along with its serial number. The wiring diagram will also show the preamp board and its board code will also be visible.

Your advices make sense, the original preamp was mod or repair before i buy the bass so I will try to repair the old preamp, at least there are many info on internet for the MC053W preamp.

Sorry, I was a little confused about what you were asking and trying to do.

Ask Customer Service if they can provide you with the schematics for both preamps. If you can't fix the original preamp then you may be able to use the new one you bought. As pointed out above, the new preamp may be a problem but it's worth a try.
