Question Ebony

Well, here's hoping that my BFR, Black Sugar, Roasted and Ebony Necked, Less than one year old, Reflex makes it to me this week.

But, I do have a question.

What tone does the ebony fretboard make. ie. darker, brighter, etc.¿¿¿

To be honost, I'm just trying to "Curb my Enthusiasm"

Not darker sonically at all like Rosewood. More controlled, balanced snap when digging in and velocity increases in my opinion.

Beautiful, balanced, clarity in the upper mids. Perfect cut in the highs, no ice pick harshness. Makes single note lead runs soar out of the mix. Very similar to an all maple to my ears but more balanced in the middle mids (no mid hump like maple), and a bit more elegance to the eyes for sure.

Should feel fantastic under your fingers. Something very special about ebony on the right guitar.

Dont curb your enthusiasm, let it build and bubble over....Be excited....... be very excited my friend! You are in for some FUN-FUN_FUN!!!!!!

I also have a BFR with a roasted neck and and ebony board.

Ebony fretboards are my favorite for the way they feel. This Axis sounds darker than my maple necked Axii, but don't forget that being the BFR, it has mohagany in the body. That also plays a factor in the sound of the guitar you're about to receive.

I love, love, love my roasted neck BFR. The finish on the back of the neck feels so wonderful, too. And this is coming from a guy who loves the unfinished Axis neck!!!

As an owner of a roasted Reflex and last weekend I also got a Albert Lee HH Roasted I can say the description above is absolutely spot on. I am a great lover of maple necks, but since playing the roasted I have to say I am in falling in love with the ebony, it just adds a bit more snap and a bit more "guts" to the tone, Love em. Also, I think the Reflex must be the most underrated MusicMan yet, the neck practically plays itself and the series/parrallell switch basically give you the normal ASS tones and then the same again but with a more single coil type tonality, swiss army Axe!!

Do all the roasted BFR have the tone block? Thinking about a roasted AL but I thought only the pinkburst had the toneblock???

Nevermind my q about the AL got the answer straight from CS...no tone block in the AL but I didn't ask about any other models.

The thing i love about the HH roasted AL is that it still has the Mahogony body so that coupled with the roasted neck and ebony fingerboard make it a totally different guitar tonally to the normal AL and the normal HH AL.
