Electronics Preamp Question/ Looking to Get Back In The Fold

I'm looking at swinging a deal on this bass FT: Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 4 - TalkBass Forums
How much does a new preamp cost? Are there aftermarket pre's available? Am I getting into something I'll regret.

I think you get get a new one from the factory, but you would have to send in your old one. Or maybe they could fix yours. CS will be open again on Wednesday...
