EMG Pickups | EMG-MMCS

Has anyone ever used one of these?

During my shopping (before i discovered the greatness of MM gear :D) i looked at a couple basses with EMG pickups and was decently impressed by them, as they were fairly condusive to a metal type sound i needed in one of my bands at the time. I've since joined both a blues band and a punk band and needed more versatilty then just a super deep metal pickup, which is where my decision on an SR4 came in. But i digress

I'm sure most of you will say an EMG pickup like this would spoil the overall style of a MM bass, and i completely agree with that. But i'm still curious as to how this sounds compared to MM pickups, as well as to other EMG pickups.

If i had some spare cash to throw around i'd probly pick up an OLP and throw one of these in there, just for giggles.

In that case, this could be an interesting project bass for your experiment .....

eBay Australia: Vintage Fernandes Japan StingRay type Bass / ( Burny ) (item 320108716977, end time 05-May-07 15:51:50 AEST)

I wasn't aware any of the famous 70's/80's Japanese copymakers had copped a Stingray. I've owned plenty of Japanese copies of other brands, but first time I've seen one of these.
