I know, I know... EMGs in an SS...

It's a beautiful guitar, but I was wondering if anyone has wired an alternate pickguard with EMGs that they could just pop into the cavity.

What extra parts would I need so I could just clip the pickguard in? I don't want to mod the wiring too much.

Thanks for your advice.

The pickguard assembly ahould be able to swap it out, you can buy the assemblies from EvilBay, but you'll need to get a new pickguard, as the ones you get are Strat ones. I've been working on one myself, I'm just stumped figuring out what pickguard I want.

I got the Luke EMG assembly and @ a great price. The other thing is you can get a pickguard from customer service or somewhere, but your gonna have to fix the humbucker hole as the EMG's are square cornered and the Dimazio's are rounded.

Hope this helps, Glenn |B)

Thanks for your help. I'll see if I can order a custom guard and one of the quick-connect cables.

Nick you can always take the cable off of the assembly you get. Basically just change out all of the electronics to the new pick guard.

A slight mod to the corner as I said, but you could probably do that with a file if you wanted too.

You got a Silo Special man?? Lets see some pictures!!!

Silo's play soooo nice, that I think just about ANY pickup is going to sound good in it.

As soon as your hand hits the neck it's over!

I ordered a set of white EMGs and I'm putting them on a white pearloid in a black SS with rosewood fingerboard. It's gonna look way too good.

My understanding now is that I can order a connector and attach it to the EMGs' volume pot and use the existing battery compartment. And the jack is stereo... I think. Anyone tried this?

By the way, the neck is pretty much the greatest manmade creation since beer.

do a quick search and you'll find my threads on this.

i've done exactly this and it worked hassle free. VERY simple change over. As Glenn mentioned, the only issue is the humbucker hole in the pickguard but i just used a fine file to "square" out the hole. very simple.

i LOVE it. for me the guitar is much more versatile with the EMG's, i seem to be using all of the positions more than I did with the stock pickups. Even the middle switch position i use.

Hi Glenn it's just the stock pickguard.I bit the bullet and filed the corners out a little bit for the emg humbucker

A cool man that makes sense. It does look good the all white man!!
