I was showing off my 40th Anniversary Stingray on TB, and got questions why the circuit board is covered in/with epoxy.
I just though it was cool of EB to history accurate do the epoxy, but I do not know if there are any other more technical reasons why this solution was chosen.

Anyone?

I have some issues with the volume pot that's why I opened the cavity to check if I could notice anything wrong.

As I understand it, the epoxied preamp just represents the 76 Stingray which the 40th Anniversary Stingray is based on.

All Stingrays for the first 2-3 yrs of production from 1976 had their preamps coated in epoxy, I believe to prevent competitors from copying them.
