Bent EQ Knob..

Dear all Ballers,

My 25th Anniversary SR5 today fell off my stand for no apparent reason, and now my bass eq knob is bent... What should I do? I'll put pictures up if that helps later.

First loosen the knob with an allen wrench, take it off and turn the pot to see if it is actually bent. Maybe the knob moved when it fell over. If that is the case put the knob back on, level it out and retighten. If the pots shaft has been bent and it bothers you you will have to replace it. If the pot works bent you could leave it bent and not change it out. I have gone both ways in the past. One thing, buy a better stand and be more careful. Markbass makes a holder called the bass keeper that will not let your bass fall over, if you want to try something different than a stand.

Will be more careful that's for sure. I actually do not have an allen wrench at home.. Is there anything I can use to substitute for that?

Not that I have found, but you can buy single allen wrenches at Sears or any other hardware store. For SR5 knobs, you'll need a 5/64" wrench.

You don't want to find a substitute. Proper tool for the proper job and all that. Allen wrench's are cheap. A set can be had at any hardware stores for a few bucks.

I didn't think knobs could bend except on Bongos!

<Eggman hides for cover>

That might be a good idea Eggman...;)

I had a bent knob (keep the jokes to yourself) and I took the knob off and the actual pot was bent. I did straighten out the pot and then I put the knob back on.

Get the proper tool....you don't use a hammer to clean your windows.

If all else fails....Customer Service.

And doing so will fix the bent pot shaft:confused:

Where i come from a case is just an inanimate object used to store and transport instruments...

It wouldn't fix it, but it wouldn't have been bent if you had it in there. I don't use stands except when im doing a show, so i normally have it in a case where it won't fall, etc.

Up for 4 nights, you might want to get some sleep.
