Hi there!
Just got one of these Markbass Minimark Combos for the 'yay, i can play my Ray almost everywhere' thing. Stingray sounds basically great with this little thing. (OK...cant think of an amp with wich the SR doesn't sound good ;))

Nevertheless, I'm still trying out the different sounds I can get with these two and wanted to ask for some recommendations of settings on the Ray as well as the amp.
Maybe someone has some experience with a 3BD Ray and the Minimark.

I like to engage the VLE quite a bit to round out the tweeter. Also, it may help to just add a tiny bit of VPF, to remove some of the "honk" that this small amp can have.

As above, keep most of the EQ section flat, give it a little bit of bass boost on the first knob, everything else flat, then increase your VLE to 09:00hrs and your VLF to 10:00hrs, seems to work wonders with my Stingray 5

kinda like this pic here:

yeah, I also found these VPF and VLE settings quite good so far. Takes the 'honk' that oli mentioned and holds back the imho very very crispy tweeter a bit.
Also I found myself boosting the bass on the Ray pretty much and cutting some highs. I dont touch the mids on the SR very often.
Any other opinions on EQ settings on the ray?

Fran, the Minimark does not have any EQ. It's this tiny box:

BTW, Big Poppa used one during the current NAMM to jam with friends as can bee seen by one of the vids.

Sorry for the hijack, but this is worth repeating!
So many instruments seem like a poor fit with certain other amps.
Have yet to have this happen with my Ray and suspect it won't happen with future MM's.

Carry on

yeah, the SR sounds great with that tiny little monster. Tryed the VLE to 09:00 and your VLF to about 10:00 again yesterday and I think I found my amp setting! (like it's so difficult with only two knobs :D ). The rest is up to the Ray, wich does a great EQing job itself!
Tataaa -> that Stingray sound that I love all the way!

Oh and ... the one BP sat on one day will be worth million. :D

*cough* can I trade my Minimark with that one please?
