When changing the strings on my guitar for the first time I accidently knocked the tremelo arm backwards and the springs fell out. Having put it all back together the system now hovers meaning tuning is poor, the action is too high and if I put any pressure on the tremelo itself (not the arm) it gets higher in pitch.

I added another spring and tightened the connecting screw into the guitar which stopped it from hovering, but now the tremolo arm is hard too use compared too how it was before.

Any help/advice would be really appreciated as I have two auditions and my grade 8 exam in the next month!

I don't think I'd use a spoon on my EBMM and this for a full floater but you'll get the idea.

floyds exhibit "string tension versus spring tension" and when you get these right the trem sits right and works right, so I gather,... never owned one.

Copying Shadowbox's sentiments.

Call or email customer service. They can point you in the right direction.

Floyds can be tricky. When they get knocked out of position like that, sometimes they need to be set up from scratch.

Also, a good tip (in retrospect) is to change the strings one string at a time. The MM Floyd doesn't have a wrap around for the trem posts like the Orig FR does. This one just rests on the posts. changing the strings one a time keeps enough string tension on the trem to hold it in place.

Also, make sure that when you're readjusting the trem during re-installation, unlock the string locks on the nut. Might be part of the reason that the Floyd won't return to baseline.
