I am very curious on having my Axis SS for almost a year now, whether in the distant future ernie ball guitars may become collectors items. Dont get me wrong, I did not buy my EB in the hope that they would become collectors items, because I genuienely believe that ernie ball make absolutely fantastic and exquisite guitars and play mine all the time, however, you walk into average guitar shop, or even some place in Denmark St (UK) and you cant find any ernie ball guitars. I mean I might just be wrong, but there does not seem to be a heck of a lot in circulation and maybe these instruments might become very rare in the future. Of course I could be completely wrong and other places in the UK or even globally may stock loads of ernie ball guitars. Im not after another one right now (maybe in the future LOL) but Im interested to know what you guys think about this. Is ernie ball musicman a popular growing guitar company and they do not seem to produce loads of guitars at one time??? Anyway id really appreciate all other people's opinions and views.
Thanks;)

I say they are a popular company because they don't produce loads of guitars at one time.

These guitars are meant to be treasured, but above all, they are meant to be played... if you feel that they are an investment to hold on to - who are we to judge? I know that I'll just keep playing with my Balls...

I think that some of their guitars and basses are already collectible. The EVH is the most famous example, but there are others. There are very few places that stock "loads of [Ernie Ball] guitars." Around here, the most I ever see in one place is two guitars. Usually, the number is zero. Of course, there are a crap load of basses all over the place. I think that EBMM is growing in both size and popularity. No, they don't produce many guitars. They're just too small to make more. Plus, they don't make any for inventory. That's probably why you don't see many around. Every guitar is ordered by someone, whether it's a distributor, retailer, or customer.

I have my EVH out this week and once again I am in love with it. The thing just rocks. I am lucky to have several guitars and the EVH is a bit of case queen these days but it still gets played - just not on a daily basis anymore. I have owned it longer than any other guitar and it is in fantastic condition - I plan to keep it that way while I enjoy it from time to time. Maybe someday . . . . . . I'll either make a few buck off of it or just play it until . . . well, it is my desert island guitar!

These are all very collectable.
There are more coming and others too!
I'm glad to have mine, but better yet. A kick ass guitar to play! :)

Something like that is next to impossible to determine. I doubt that anyone fifty years ago thought that the strat or les paul they paid 300 for would be worth 10K or 20K today. Especially after they beat the crap out of it. Then again, I seem to remember a lot of nuts paying premiums for "collectable" beanie babies a few years back. I think they're all worth about 50 cents at a yard sale now.
