I've found mine useful but not everyone needs it for their application/rig.

Do you have an acoustic amp or some other PA\ monitors to split the signal too? if so it has a purpose if not well doesnt really serve much purpose, depends on your setup

My whole live rig is built around my EB Splitter box.. amazing textured clean when you blend piezo via the PA system with clean from you magnetic pickups and amp.

I run a TRS cable from my JP to the splitter. From there, the piezo output goes to a DI box then to the PA system.

The magnetic output of the splitter goes to the pedals in front of the amp head. Works great.

However, I think EB quit making them a few years ago.. so get one while you can find it.

Do you really need it ? My ASS got the switch on board and I'm running 2 cables from the guitar

So Piezo switch and Splitbox might be a bit the same unless you want to use only one cable instead of 2

Last week when rehearsing with my band i used 2 cables one directly into the PA desk for the piezo and the other to my amp/pedal board etc.
Would you guys use a DI box for the piezo before goin to the mixer?

Hey Colin!

Ya man definately do try and pick one up for your piezo. the passive behringer ones would do perfectly and they are cheap as chips and built pretty good too.

I would, but make sure the DI box has a ground lift switch. Sometimes when you're connecting a single guitar into two different systems (PA, guitar amp) and they're plugged into different electrical circuits, you can create a loud ground hum. Throwing the ground lift switch on the DI box eliminates or greatly reduces this hum the vast majority of the time. If you run two TS (mono) cables from the guitars two jacks, you don't have the ground lift option. (Unless you run two cables with the piezo cable into a DI box..)

I don't use a splitter box as such.
I take the stereo out into my EB Stereo 6165 pedal. This splits the signal into Piezo and Mags.
Depending on the position of the "toe switch" on the pedal you can either swell the volume of both signals together or pan between the two. It just takes away some of the switch selection on the guitar and makes for a perfect transition between the piezo/mags.

I made myself a three way splitter for recording (rack mount) , i find it useful, I know Spud made himself a splitter before he got his pedal, I believe the devil himself now owns that splitter.

I need to decide what i need to get myself as im busy just now.

What exactly DI box do?

Wikipedia said it for me:

A DI unit, DI box, Direct Box or simply DI is an electronic device that connects a high impedance, line level, unbalanced output signal to a low impedance mic level balanced input, usually via XLR connector. DIs are frequently used to connect an electric guitar or electric bass to a mixing console's microphone input. The DI performs level matching, balancing, and either active buffering or passive impedance bridging to minimise noise, distortion, and ground loops. DIs do not perform impedance matching.
