Hi guys im new on this board.

I reallylike the sub 1 guitars but iw anted to know a few things before i go ahead and buy/order one. I think they play and feel great but i disliek the look alot. Is the guitar available in textured black? NOW the big issue, i dont like the pick gaurd! Is it available in a solid black (made of plastic!) i really dont wnat an aluminum pick gaurd. My idea of this axe would be to get a textured black sub 1 with a black pickgaurd made of normal plastic as on most guitars. Also only one pick up is needed for me, BUT what pick up do they come with the specs on the site is a tad sketchy.

so to sum it up cuz i know my writing is a tad confusing

1. Available in black textured finish?
2. Black PIck gaurd toured for one humbucker only?
3. What type of pick up in the bridge is it?

Thanks guys for your help

and feel free to introduce yourselves.

Hey Jason,

A few people on the boards have the sub 1, but not many from what I remember. Raz does, I think.

I seem to recall seeing a sub in black, but it was more of a grayish black, and not jet black. It seems people are getting these guitars and doing some customizing to them (different p/ups etc.). Kinda like everyone does to their strat.

Hang tight, more answers are on the way.

Jason, welcome aboard!

Raz is right,

1. Yes, you can get textured black

2. Yes you can get a matte black finish pickguard

3. It is a Custom bridge Humbucker

This guitar comes with 1 humbucking pickup standard, and 2 humbuckers as an option. You can get it with or without a tremolo. The tremolo model comes with locking tuners.

and the locking tuners are fantastic, BTW...I would rather change strings on my Sub1(or any non floyd EBMM) over my other Floyd equipped guitars, anyday...put the string thru, lock, cut, tune...that's it baby!

Thanks guys, what is a custom bridge humbucker btw? What is it similiar to and what kind of magnets does it have?

Also if i got a standard bridge, it won't come with locking tuners? :( i personally don't like tremolos i never use them on my fender.

Good question about the locking tuners, however I would still want them, for string changing purposes...I almost want to change strings on a daily basis!

Love my Sub... I'm not changine the pickups cause they are pretty damn good. The trem is awsome too.

I have the textured black by the way. It looks like other pblack guitars but it's more of a matte finish and (gasp) textured. I love the finish.. and it's not at all grey to me.... not even in pics.

I've played a few subs and, guitar center "professional" setup aside , I love em except for the paint on the back of the neck. can't stand that and being spoiled from ebmm's usual necks doesn't help, hehe. other than that I love em. good chunky feeling neck, good tone, hard to beat at the price.

Welcome to the addiction! Get the SUB and be happy. You can all the mods or just order one with the color you want and the pickguard you want.....

hmm i actually nticed what im looking for can be found on the benji madden signature guitar. Its like a sub, only it has locking tuner, how are the pick ups on that thing btw? I dont really care for signature gear but it seems to be a slightly upgraded sub 1, with 500k pots, locking tuners, alder wood, and no paint job on the neck.

I just tried the SUB1 out at Express Music in Florida...wow! Great guitar!

I was wondering though...why does it say 'Guitar' on the headstock? Seems kinda redundant.

Maybe because there is a SUB1 Bass!
