Most of the guys this side of the pond will know what this is but for the few who dont....

its the biggest song contest on the planet.Every country in europe has a puts in a song and then when all songs are over every country gets to vote on the favorite song. For years it was seen as very tacky but its trying to be cool again,Finland won last year with Lordie ( a metal band,a bit like kiss just more grunt!!).

Abba Won the Eurovision and then took the world by storm,Celion Dion also won it.

Any way my point is the semi final was on last night and i spotted 2 SR5's

Best bass in the world:D

so what are you saying? the whole contest is a money making exercise?

Erm, Colin, I don't know if you are joking, so i'll act like you are serious.

Yes it is! It's a competition between songs, and it is 100% about making money nowadays. Ok so we got The Ark competing for us, and they are a real band, but they only do it for the publicity.
Still, it's a great evening of totally outrageous stage performances, although everything is sing back:)

yea i spotted those two SR5s :)

however i dislike the eurovision song contest as it's no contest at all...it's just a political contest held with a money-making machine in the background. Here in Europe we all know that not the best song wins...countries vote for neighbours - switz vote danmark, danmark vote sweden, sweden vote iceland, etc. And then there's a similar thing on the easter part of europe, leaving countries like spain, portugal, malta, UK, ireland, etc with the least amount of votes. Italy does the best thing and refuses to take part.

Some things in life are so bad, that they are cool. Eurovision has to be possibly the funniest way to end a musical career.

Funny, at my work we deal with a bladder cancer urine test called UroVysion. For a few seconds I was wondering why the title of the thread seemed so familar.

Even if you're collecting "SR 5 sighting" vids, do not watch Eurovision or you'll discover what "bored" really means. What's worst than waisting your time listening to bad music ? ABBA must be the only exception since this contest exists.

Jsut my point of view ; hopefully there are Eurovison fans here, or there will be diplomatic incident.

How can you forget this!

YouTube - United Kingdom 1981

HAHAHAHAHAHA!:D:D:D:D

Dear God I KNEW what that was gonna be before I even clicked on it! :D

I agree with all of you - it's so awful, that's what makes it good - especially if you're drunk - every year I do my best tipsy Terry Wogan impression (in French no less... "la Bosnia et Herzegovine..... DOUZE POINTS!") and award all the top points to countries neighbours (Scandanavia, cough, cough)... it's amazing how unpredictable it can be after all these years! :D Tho to be honest I think Wogan only does it nowadays for the free booze - he's always sloshed by the end... :)

I recon if we reincarnated John Lennon & GH and reformed the Beatles who went on to write their best composition ever, then entered it in the eurovision song contest..

still nobody would vote for the UK!! - sorry it's true.

All the baltic "Europen ha!" states will vote for each other and + 1 with what Azzy says.

I'll still watch it though - with a bottle of Mount Gay and a large bottle of "leaded" Coke.

Roumor has it you limeys send those horrible contributions to avoid winning, since the bbc don't want to fork out for a full scale evurovision finals:p

Oh dear we're only on song 10... we've actually had some half decent songs, but the current Greek entry is awful... but that's not going to stop it getting stuck in my head! Aaaargh

But at least we've had the first MM sighting of the night - bass player in the Hungarian entry was playing a natural SR5 with black PG - I think :) EB watching is providing my only source of entertainment and sanity right now...

Have you seen the DARGIE DRESS!!!!!!!! Oooooh aaaaaaah. I'm also making note of the songs that have been ripped off... so far Madonna and the Beatles have been victims... and now we have scary French men in pink shirts... um and now they've started singing and dancing and there are no words... dear lord... i mean there are words because they are singing, but i'm at a loss to describe it apart from saying its awful
