I posted a thread here a while back about how the music shop chain store Sound Control were selling off their remaining stock of SUB1 guitars for £199 which by anyones yardstick is a ridculously good deal on a U.S. made Ball.
Well of course by the time I got on the case to get one Sound Control had gone into receivership and all was lost....

I received an email the other day from Reverb, the company born out of the ashes of Sound Control and there on the clearance page were their remaining stock of SUB1's for £139:eek:

£139.... That is so cheap as to be almost offensive.

So I was on the phone like a shot. The plan was to get out the plastic buy 3 or 4, keep one and offer the remainder out to UK/Europe Knuckleheads for the £139 plus whatever it cost me to to post them because at that price I don't think anyone would say no right ?

Guess what ?

All sold,

So annoyed that i may have to go and break something...

Oh well

Surprised ?

No, particularly when like you say I was in a shop on Denmark St in London yesterday where they wanted £249 for an OLP.

But just because I'm not surprised doesn't mean I'm not annoyed at missing out on what was quite possibly the best guitar deal I've ever seen....

Still I suppose on the flipside if it means that someone is starting out their guitar playing journey on a SUB1 as opposed to a Stagg or a Legacy or one of the other myriad of generic Chinese guitars that infest all my local music shops then that is a good thing.

After all I do already have my Axis.:D

Nice gesture though.....

Thanks BP.

Like I said, at those prices I figured they really were the Christmas presents that us UK Knuckleheads could easily justify buying for ourselves :D

Like I said in another thread I reckon that with the passage of time that the SUB's are going to be re-discovered in the same way that the old Les Paul, SG Juniors have been. Well built simple little Rock and Roll screamers, especially the single pick up model.

But yeah, as long as someones having a good time with them and hopefully spreading the EBMM word.

I love my lil' Sub1.

Great guitar; sturdy, playable, with genuine heritage.

I have a notion for a project log, maybe that will force me to put plans into action.

Just breathe slowly.... in and out...in and out... that's right..;)

I'd have taken one of you. I've paid more for some effects pedals than that!:(

PMT Manchester (the old SC in Salford) had 1 or 2 for ~£300 a couple of weeks ago.
Dunno about now though.

And if I'd got them you would have been very welcome old chap.

And that is exactly the point. Having played what else is around for the same money I think the retail price of my Axis new is a steal at 1k plus so a Sub for less than a booteek pickup and a handwired TS808 clone is quite frankly Nicholas Parsons (Sale of the Century).

The problem is that it's got the juices flowing for a 1PU SUB 1 now....

Oh Lord.

Bungo how's the ex Wolfbone07,DrBob,Kompressaur1 Silo Special doing ?

It's doing well thank you. Now reunited with it's original trem arm and back to SSS it's fulfilling it's 'single coil strat type noise provider' role very nicely thank you.

Might drag it out for a fiddle this afternoon now (oo-err missus)!:D
