You sometimes hear about SR's being "one-trick ponies" or similar "labels". However, Friday night I rec'd a call from some people who needed a bass player for 2 gigs they were doing Sunday. From the phone call I rec'd I thought it was going to be your typical rock n' roll type gig. When I get there I find out that these guys are playing some hard core jazz! I'm not talking 20 minute bass solos type jazz - just a lot of standards, etc.

Now I have to say that with a little tweaking of the EQ settings on my SR5 and my amp, I was rolling in no time. I had no problem getting a compatible tone out of my SR5. The guys I played (who I'd never played with before) even complimented me on my tone.

I would usually take my Jazz bass on a gig like this - But the SR5 had no problem delivering!

Just thought I'd share that to help eliminate any stereotypical profiling that might be out there... ;)
