Hey guys. My trusty old EVH is due for another re-fret. Does anyone here know what kind/size of fret wire is used on those guitars? I want the new wire to be exactly the same as what came stock on it.

Is the fret wire the same on the EVH and the current Axis?

Thanks for the help.

Happy New Year!

I'm not sure what size that fret wire is...but I would say that the best way to ensure that you have new wire that is exactly the same as stock.... Send it back to EBMM for a re-fret. I believe they charge $240.00 and I would expect that they do fantastic work.

The fret wire on the Axis/EVH models is .095 wide and .047 tall

T-Bone - awesome that you have the measurements! it was on my "to do" list...

Though I'd send in for a factory refret, I believe you can order the wire from them as well.

Yes, AJ actually gave me the info earlier this year because I wanted to replace my frets with stainless but wanted the EXACT size fretwire

I wish EBMM would do custom setups like that :(

+1 I sent my EVH to ebmm for a re-fret about 7 yrs ago. It came back like new. Not only were frets done flawlessly, but the neck was as clean as when I first bought it 10 yrs earlier.

You can buy the switch from MM directly but they don't sell fretwire (though they do great fretwork if you ever want to send it to them).

I also had an awesome refret job done by AJ and his team! Best deal out there - factory quality refret, for less than most techs charge!

Too bad they don't do stainless frets though.
