I just picked up the November issue of Guitar World and they had a little something about the EVH Art Series guitars by Charvel.

Actually shows the man himself putting the tape on for stripping. Says these will be up for auction and production models should hit stores in November at a retail price of..........$3,299.99..........WOW....seems a tad bit much for me, but, someone is bound to buy 'em I guess.

The auctioned ones will be way more and the highest bidder will receive Ed's custom Harley.....jeez, might be worth the bike alone to bid high...hehehehehe

BTW, Ed is putting his John Hancock on each of the ones auctioned off....

Colors are as follows:

White w/black stripes
Red w/ black and white stripes
Black w/ white stripes.

Happy bidding if you do it.....hehehhe

Sorry about the post.....don't want to bring up re-hashed garbage! LOL..

Looks like an EVH, probably sounds like one....but I just could not own one. Makes my head hurt with all that stripping going on! :D

My opinion is that - unlike the Axis and Wolfgang - these guitars will appeal to the EVH fanboys only. He won't sell many of them - especially with those anemic-looking plain-jane necks at three bills!! I'm waiting to see if Charvel will start building Wolfgangs...

Most likely a collectors only thing, IMO.

Still no word on officially leaving Peavey. My wife's family is from MS and after living there for a number of years I like to see MS companies do well so it's kinda sad to see Ed bail after Peavey kept his axe going for so long. I think I see a pattern...

I'm not ruling anything out. He could leave PV and I wouldn't be surprised. He could stay and I wouldn't be surprised.

If he leaves PV he'll need to find another company to build amps and guitars for him that will apeal to a broader market than the Charvels currently do IMO. From a business standpoint, at this point in time, Ed leaving PV would be looking the proverbial gift horse in the mouth.

Of course he'll be able to find another company to build his gear. It's just a matter of time and $$$ to get it all off the ground. Financially he'd be years behind where he'd be if he just stayed with PV and kept tweaking his offerings from them.

I agree with you on that hbucker....dude should just stay where he is at. I have seen many groups re-unite and then try to cash in as quick as they can irregardless of how bad of a decision that may be.

People tend to move around alot it seems lately. But, that is their decision and not mine. I don't make the big bucks to do that sort of thing..... :D

Evh Charvel

I agree that these new "striped" guitars will have limited appeal(I am getting one though). There are tons of new players who really don't know who he is. The band hasn't had a new record out in many many years. I can't imagine that the striped guitars are all that they have in the pipeline. Charvel(if he does leave Peavey completely, which is 99% certain) will probably do what EB and Peavey did, offer a EVH model strat with many different color combos(maybe wood) and hardware options. As for the amps well most specualte that he will just start using a Fender, remember Fender owns Charvel, and they will just make a sig line there. The only way it's a bone move is if all they ever produce is the "striped" guitars, but if you read the press statement it's always said they are a limited series, even though Charvel is owned by Fender they probably won't let them produce a regular production "strathead" guitar. Remember most people thought of Peavey as a 2nd tier guitar maker until the Wolfgang came out. Charvel at least has a history of quality custom shop guitars, and to be more honest many people, would prefer to have a strat style guitar I'm not in that group I've always liked the EB/ Peavey EVH bodies. They rock but don'y look like everything else

Also, don't forget that EVH actually owns the design for the Wolfgang; he could license anyone else to produce it, including Charvel or Fender.

I'm not sure about the 5150 amp line - Peavey may retain ownership of that. However, Fender still owns the Sunn name although it is currently dormant. I could see an amp much like the 5150 coming out under the Sunn name instead of under the Fender name.

(anxiously awaiting my Sil Special - eta November :D )

I heard a rumer on another board that he was moving to crate to make his new line of amps, supposedly someone was at the NAMM show this summer and got that info from a tech over at crate, well see, theres tons of bull going around as usual, but it does make sense with sammy at crate, and like was mentioned, peavey was crate 15 years ago -

Yeah, that is true about Crate....(I don't mean EVH going there), I mean it was Peavey or whatever. Sammy being there might be an influence to him too.

We'll see......rumor mills are wonderful places for a steady stream of garbage.

If this is indeed the case, Ed really has hit rock bottom. Crate blows.
