Has anyone tried the EVH Dtuna on the Floyd Gotoh? Myself and Browndog had the same problem. Not sure if they're compatible? The D tuna 'sagged' downward and when activated would nearly touch the body( too close for comfort on my new 20th Tribute). It also stayed in tune in 'E' but had to be adjusted to maintain tuning to 'D' every time.I removed it and sent it back.
Any thoughts?

Works flawless on my EVH. Every now and then a little finetuning but only once in a while.

Same issue on my Green Tribute. Even with the thing fully backed off it points down further than I am used to on my regular Axis. It will clear the body but pressing down to activate it gets it very close to the body. Over time I tend to move them even further down due to fine tuning and on this one it doesn't take much before it is actually touching the body and can't be used at all. Seems that with the D-Tuna attached, the back end of the string saddle was tilted up somewhat. I gave up and took it off last night.

I've used the Dtuna on my EVH & Axis guitars (and plenty of other Floyd equipped guitars) with great results.

I have had problems like that before though. I think it depends on how the intonation is set on your guitar. I think if your low E string saddle is set far back toward the fine tuners...you are more likely to have this problem. I'm just not sure what the fix is.

No problems here. Make sure you have the fine tuner on the low E backed off all the way up or maybe half a turn from all the way up. Tune to D with the D-Tuna out, lock the nut, pop it in for E and adjust the tuning with the tiny hex screw on the side the little allen wrench. I'm surprised yours is hitting the body, or is at least that close.

It's usually recommended that when setting up a floyd you keep all of the fine tuning screws, screwed in about half way, before tuning with the tuners. I've read on some other forums that it might be as simple as the fine tuning screw being screwed in too far. That's essentially what is pushing the DTuna closer to the body. Try backing off the fine tuning screw, loosen the locking nut then retune. Screw down the locking nut then see what happens.

Just noticed your post, Jeff. Do you have a photo of what the redesign looks like?

What we're saying is that even with the fine tuning screwed backed all the way off it's very close, much closer than normal. If the fine tuning screw was halfway in on my Tribute, the D-Tuna would be touching the body.

Gotcha. Thanks for that info. That does suck. Did you try using one of the different length string retaining screws that came with the D-tuna. Wondering if the shorter screw might help.

Yes, remember the title of the thread. It has to be due to the fact that it is the updated GOTOH. Everyone with a "Tribute" Axis should be ware!!! Is this design intentional??????

Axis Tributes & D- Tuna

The E string Tuner Screw is tighten to far down and has to be unscrewed a bit, I had the same problem, not no more. BE CAREFUL NOT TO STRIP THE SCREW!!!! Oh ya meet my 2011 Trans Black Axis Tribute, with one very reliable and functional D-Tuna!!!!

Just tried that but it didn't help. First picture is in the D position, not a big problem there. Second picture is in the E position with the E screw loosened pretty much all the way and the fine tuner not touching. You can see how close to the body it is in the E position. Further tightening (which is often necessary) of the fine tuner or the E screw doesn't really leave enough clearance to switch back and forth. I think that the upwards angle of the Gotoh, is smaller so when the D-Tuna presses flush against it it has to point down. Oh well, I'll just use my others for the D-Tuna stuff. It's all good.

D-Tuna on Axis Tribute!!!

That Suck's!!! On mine I just had to raise the screw, and mine went in straight.
I ordered another D-tuna for the pink one, hope it goes in too. Black one no problems
At all. Your d-tuna screw looks longer also. I'll get back about the pink one.

Nice pics, Tonelover. My description was sort of vague. Your pictures exhibit exactly what I was trying to say. I just don't think that the EVH D tuna is compatible with the 'updated' Floyd.

Yea looking at those photos there's definitely not enough clearance to be changing tunings fast on the fly without any worries.

Now I'm perplexed. I did everything that you guys are suggesting. And not only did it hang too close to the body, it had to be 'fined tuned' with the little allen screw every time. I'll just D tune another guitar for the stuff I need.
Thanks to all.
