I'm toying with the idea of creating a website for ebmm evh sig guitar owners. Serial number database, stolen guitar tracking, classifieds, forum, tips and tricks, picture and sound gallery, that kind of thing.

Anybody think this would be well-received and worth the effort?

I would participate but I quesiton how much traffic you'd get over all. It might just be you and me talking about our EVH's...

I think it's a great idea Ratter, but it's the kind of project (a "labor of love") that you will probably have to kick off more-or-less solo and have people find it and come into it slowly, over time... The EB/MM EVH is the kind of collectable guitar that really benefits from a website like the one you're thinking of, though, and who better to put one together than you? Go for it, man!

Someone has one in place for Wolfgangs, with an "obligatory" area for EVH's, far from doing this guitar as much honor as he did the Wolfgangs (kinda get the idea that he did so just because he "had" to, etc.)

The world needs an EBMM EVH worship site. So, get on with it already, man! Let me know when I can post my pics, etc. and if there's anything that I can do to help, drop me an email! :)

Hi Mike, I for one would love to see a site just for Ernie Ball Music Man EVH's! That would be great! I know you could count on Barry Menary and myself for checking it out almost daily! It would be great to see if there are any oddities that were produced as well as track serial numbers to really see if the numbers were built in order. You got my Vote!

Great idea!, I would love to see that happen!

There was a site called The Brown Sound that had vh fan guitars but that site is gone.

Good idea! To my knowledge, there's no website about this guitar. I'd love to see one on one of the best EBMM guitar made.

As soon as I get some time here, I'm going to be working with Ned here, who runs the Wolfgang Registry, to make it more EBMM friendly, so this idea is actually going to take fruition sometime in the future. ratter, perhaps you, Ned and I can put our heads together.

I will credit you for suggesting the idea first a while back, but with an infrastructure, for the most part, in place a la Ned's website, I see it best to work with him to make this happen. And very nicely at that! :) To be fair, I fully welcome, and actually desire your involvement in this project...the 3 of us can do good things!

Ned, a quick shout out to you that I haven't forgotten about ya...just trying to finish up my work over here, as we talked before. Sorry about the delay, brother! :)

Definately need to make my site (Wolfgang Registry) more EBMM friendly. Database is in place - on my other site (TokaiRegistry.com) I've actually gone back through the database a few times to help people with insurance and stolen guitar claims.

Looking forward to any help in making the site more geared toward EBMM.

Here is the shameless plug. Check out the site then send me feedback (constructive please) on how to improve the site overall and specifically EBMM.

My first thought is to change the name to the EVH Guitar Registry.

Hey Ned,

I get over there from time to time. I think it's set up very well regardless of what you call it. "EVH Guitars" might bring in more folks who don't have/use/like Wolfgangs and all of his guitars seem to be featured on the site.

The only real problem I see with your site is that it seems to get virtually NO traffic. If you do anything to improve the site, some kind of word of mouth advertising might be the ticket. From what I can tell, those who do participate over there are pretty level headed.

Once you get the traffic, hopefully as a moderator, you can keep it from becoming just one big pissing contest between all the individual model loyalists...

"Wolfgangs Suck!"
"No way man! EVH's Suck!"
"C'mon man can't we just get along. Do we both agree that Charvels Suck!"
"Yeah man! I knew we could find some common ground."

I've been struggling with that. The forums get decent traffic but 0 activity and I'm pretty good about stopping the pissing contests.

I've tried posting generic type topics but am getting little activity. Any ideas on how to generate posting would be appreciated.

Do you want guys like me to go over there and post anything/everything that's on our minds just to see what we can get stirred up? It'll look kind of funny all coming from one guy but I guess it's worth a try.

This EBMM board was DEAD for the first year or so. Activity is relatively heavy now to the extent that you can check in once a day and see some new stuff. Early on you could check in every week and not see much change. I'm glad to see it's coming along.

Maybe the same will happen with your site.
