Sorry if this doesn't belong...anyhoo I noticed the other day on Ebay that there are quite a few of these guitars for sale...and some are priced around 500.00 US. Now what's up with these guitars...are they any good...are they AMERICAN built, or is there a license product I am unaware of. In fact one didn't even get bid on straing at around 500.00 US...

Wolfgang Special EXT models are Korean. You can recognize them by their quilt tops and ink stamped serial numbers, but the trem is also different, and if you've played one back-to-back with a US guitar, there's really a world of difference. The Wolfgang Special with the stamped-in-the-wood serial number, flame top or solid color, and the US trem is US-made. They're pretty good guitars, especially when you can pick 'em up used for less than $500... I have one:

OK well I asked the person and they said it was US made, it looks like it has a stamped in the wood serial number and it is a solid black color. They're asking 600.00 CND with free shipping...what do you think Jimi?

The U.S. Special is an awesome work horse of a guitar. It's got great tone and is very versatile for a 2 humbucker guitar with no tone pot. Their tone varies with volume pot adjustments more than any guitar I've owned. IMO they aren't that pretty but they really get the job done.

p.s. I don't think they're ugly either. I just think the solid colors are a little plain looking. I've got a gold one like Jimi's and love it.

This one comes with the OHSC and installed Dimebag PUPS...I'm gonna see if he still has the original PUPS! The serial number starts with a 9 and he says that...and I quote
"And like any Wolfgang fan can tell you, the serial # of an American made model always starts with 91"

So I think I'm gonna buy it...

That's okay... I paid $600 for mine locally, though you usually won't see them for less than $800... Trouble is, you can't play the guitar, so you could be buying somebody else's problems... I'm most concerned about fret wear and mods when buying a guitar on-line, and if they changed out the pickups, it suggests the guitar might have seen a lot of use... also, if they are in the US, the taxes and brokerage fees will run another $150, so it's suddenly not such a good deal...

Actually he's from P. E. I. so I would only pay the 600.00, and I agree with you totally, I'm so nervous when it comes to used stuff...
