I'm in the process of modifying an el'cheapy OLP MM1 with a Floyd Rose, EVH pickups, tuners, etc., and was wondering ...

Can I get an EVH signature decal?
I'm not trying to pass this off as the real thing, just thought it would be kinda cool.

Thanks!

PS: Any of you guys willing to part with an original EVH model?

Not that I know of, I'm sure EBMM isn't in the business of catering to those who are attempting to xerox their guitars....and don't take that the wrong way brah, but it does make the sense.

Hey Orange Channel ~
No offense taken, and no, I'm not attempting to "Xerox" an Ernie Ball ... OLP already did that for me with permission from Ernie Ball (at least that's what I gather from what is written on the back of the headstock).

As far as the decal ... I know for a fact that PRS will provide "Paul Reed Smith" signature decals for their headstocks. Not for the purpose of making "xerox" copies (though I'm sure it's been done), but to replace ones that may be coming off (**** happens ... even to the BEST manufactures). Anyway ... No disrespect, I was just curious.

Now that I think about it, Eddie is EXTREMELY anal about the use of his "trademark" stripes, so I guess it was a stupid thought on my part.

:D

PRS, this would be an EBMM thing over an Eddie thing at this point. It all comes down to quality control of product. EBMM will not replace items directly, ie. broken necks/trems from an EBMM guitar will only be replaced if shipped directly to EBMM, and they'll send a replacement neck/trem, etc.

If you have an EVH (I have 2, and you can have one/both of them when you pull them from my cold, stiff fingers :p), and the paint/screening on the headstock is fading/gone, etc. then I could see you getting a hold of that item, or sending in your neck would result in getting what you want. EBMM's practices are to avoid wrong product impression, such as someone labeling a Warmoth neck with an EBMM logo, or passing off a non-EBMM item as such, which, though I understand your reasoning as to why, it could technically be classified as what you are doing.

I know that you're not trying to do that; I like the idea, and the novelty of it. However, these are the reasonings for why you won't see it happen.

FWIW, and going against the trend: there was one dude on the 'Bay that would sell decals of the EBMM logo, and the Axis logo as well. That's just food for thought, though... :)

Just my take, bro...good luck to you in making that guitar rock! :)

Thanks for responding to my posting.
I hope nobody thinks that I would ever try to misrepresent or pass off an OLP for the "real" EVH, as that is not my intention AT ALL. It would strictly be for "novelty" purposes, but I can surely understand EBMM's take on the matter and I totally respect that.

You can't blame a guy for trying though. :D

Was't trying to misrepresent ya PRS dude, more so state Darren's post but in a reallly brief way. I've seen plenty of peple do that for their own enjoyment with Warmoth necks on their project guitars....I'd even thought of that when I bult a jazzmaster copy.

No prob...that is why Jimi and I are here, to set the record straight and provide insight into EBMM's products and practices as best we can, or forward to the appropriate source for resolve. :)

PRS, we've got some pretty mature people on this board, save the occasional moron who pops up and claims that a certain company's products is crap, and they are the Titanic, etc. (should have been banned sooner; my fault for letting that one slip through!) I would think that 99.999% of the folks would understand what you're getting at, and that you're not trying to "slip one under the rug" like that. if that were the case, I'd send OC, pack-rat, and thindave after you to bring me your head. :p

In related news, I actually have an OLP 4-banger bass, and would love to sand the finish off the stock, the neck, oil it up like my (actual) EVH's, and slap on an 'ol Stingray logo, etc. -- that OLP "Ancient Chinese Logo" thing drives me batty. Mind you, I have played a Stingray, and my OLP can NOT take the place of one. The reality is that the OLP is a Yugo in comparison to a Stingray; even though I know it would never match up to a Stingray, it'd look a lot nicer with that modification. :)

Overall, remember that we have people here an email away that handle that "strange kind of business" if you do. Sleep well tonight... ;)
