Ran across a EVH today in my travels. (can't remember serial). It was a very light purple trans (almost looked trans blackish) over a nicely quilted top, matching head. Frets in decent shape. Lots of buckle rash down to the wood in the back. Dimples in the finish behind the floyd (probably from pullups). Not sure if it has a case. Tagged at $1600. Seems high, no? Discuss... :)

In the condition you describe possibly without case, I would say that is high. I'm also a little concerned if someone has been pulling up on the trem - it shouldn't do that - has it been routed?

if it's all original w/original case.......... the frets aren't worn......the finish is good..... the neck will adjust to flat....&.. you like it......i think it's fair

I would say if it were in excellent condition and all original, I'd say around $2k would be reasonable. Clearly $1,600 takes the condition into consideration. It's up to you whether or not it's consideration enough.

Honestly, if the EVH mistique doesn't mean enough to you, just get an Axis new. It'll be cheaper and virtually the same guitar. Or better yet, get a used Axis in good condition for $800-900.

If the EVH thing is what you're after, then I'd go with what tommyindeleware said. If it plays right then you're good. It's a collectable guitar so that's where the value is coming from. But one man's collectable is another man's junk.

no routing... either the guy pulled up on the bar, or when all the strings were off it was mushing into the top. Need to play it more as I just kinda gave it a visual inspection and plunked a few chords.

If it's all origainal and you're happy with the condition, then consider it - I have an EVh and they are one of the best guitars ever made (I know - the Axis is almost identical, but I like having an original). Plug it in and you will probably be convinced :)
