Customer service...Ahhh how you bring to mind, many many mixed emotions and words to describe you
Good,bad,indifferent,superb,appalling,special,terrible,wonderful,atrocious,brilliant,dismal,great and pathetic
Im sure you fine people have experienced customer service, both good and bad,and have many more unpublishable words to describe your experiences
When i was young,i used to accompany my Dad in the summer holidays to watch a Master of customer service at work..He was an accounts manager for a brewery in the north west of england
What i noticed about my Dad was, that no matter the person,no matter whether they bought beer from him, from the brewery her worked for,he treated everyone like a long lost friend
I used to say,and i was only about 9 or 10,he wont buy,and he told me,maybe not right now,but he will do
Not everyone did,but a lot came back, and my dad made a lot of friends, even if they did not buy
I remember how he told me,you arent just selling a product, you are selling yourself..90% of the time, its you they are buying into,,not a product..
My dad was a wonderful human being,he did indeed sell himself, and made everyone feel like they mattered, which nowadays,i think that is a trait that is lacking in human beings..He was genuinely interested,he knew everything about that persons life, not to gain a sale, because he cared
I learnt a lot from him,and i take that to work everyday..I am of the opinion, even if someone buys a set of strings,it could lead to a bigger sale, but thats only by being genuinely interested in someone..It makes me chuckle, because people dont expect it..They just expect a surly, arrogant person who just takes money
Believe me,i've had it done to me,and i treat people the way i want to be treated
I pride myself on getting repeat business.I am a salesman, but i am a human being, and just by talking i know it helps a lot of older customers, who are lonely
Now onto my point..Rob and the boys at Strings & Things,i cannot say enough good things about these gentleman
I have bought three MM guitars through them, and each time it has been a pleasure to do business with them
Nothing is too much trouble,i've got some great deals on guitars, and they always treat me like an old friend
Rob is a genuine human being, who always has a funny story,or anecdote to tell, and in that way,he reminds me of my dad..He is a silent salesman,he makes sure i have had more than exemplary customer service, for each of my guitars
It makes me want to buy from him..He is willing to go the extra mile, time and time again, and its truly appreciated by me
Rob and the boys,Nigel,Luke, Andy, and anyone else i've forgotten,i salute you for taking the time to help me,keep me informed, and to make sure i am happy
MM make great guitars, but if i had had poor customer service,my view on the guitar itself would change dramatically
So thanks to you all at Strings & Things for restoring my faith, not just in guitars, but in human beings
Oh and thanks to A.J and Nathan over at MM for answering my queries about my Majesty..I have never experienced customer service in my life, like i have from Strings & Things and MM
Thanks to all at MM for the guitars you make, there is simply not a guitar like them, and they renewed my passion for guitar playing
Now how the hell am i going to afford that Artisan Majesty???..hahaha
